I currently hold a BSc (Hons) in Applied Animal Behaviour from Portsmouth University, a Higher Diploma in the Practical Aspects of Companion Animal Behaviour and Training (QCF Level 5) from COAPE and a Nurse Certificate in Animal Behaviour from ESPVS, I have also been a Registered Veterinary Nurse for over 20 years.
Having a strong interest in animal psychology and training means I am constantly attending courses to keep my knowledge up to date with all the latest scientific research regarding Companion Animal Behavioural modification and training techniques.
I believe in the use of only modern, kind and positive reward based techniques and am strongly against the use of aversives such as choke chains and rattle cans. If we reinforce the behaviours we want to see repeated your pet is more likely to want to offer these in future. Pets are invited into our homes as family members and therefore deserve to be treated as such.
My approach to behavioural cases is based on assessing the animals lifestyle as a whole rather than just the presenting problem, behaviour problems often manifest as a result of imbalance within the lifestyle and addressing of such can assist in modification of the presenting problem(s).
All of my work is now booked via my sister company Pets in Practise. Please do head there if you wish to discuss or engage in services.
